Once you have the App Store then continue down to the Upgrade to Mountain Lion from the App Store section below.
and definitely cheaper than buying Leopard somewhere.Īdobe CS will likely not work, even if you just upgrade to 10.5Īdobe has a document online that shows a listing of the various versions of Adobe software that are not supported by Leopard and newer.įireFox has most recent update has dropped support for Leopard, so again, Snow Leopard may be a good goal - assuming that you have an intel processor, and not a PPC G4. If you can upgrade to Mountain Lion then read my post Where is the Mac App Store on Leopard (10.5) or Snow Leopard (10.6) to make sure you have the version of Snow Leopard that has the App Store. You'll also find that it is cheaper through the Apple Store, rather than purchase through some other retailer, such as ebay, etc. If you can go beyond Snow Leopard, you will need that for an upgrade to Lion. To find it, go to System Preferences and then click on Time Machine. Or you can use an Apple feature called Time Capsule.
You can order Snow Leopard from Apple Online. Apple says you can upgrade to OS X Mavericks directly if you’re running Snow Leopard (version 10.6.8), Lion (10.7) or Mountain Lion (10.8). I would recommend that an older Intel processor may be a good upgrade to Snow Leopard. A Mountain Lion icon will display on the Launchpad. OS X Mavericks should be the first search result. After your OS and apps are up to date, launch the Mac App Store and download OS X Mountain Lion (19.99 for Upgrade). Type Mavericks into the box at the top right of the App Store. Click on the App Store button at the bottom of the screen. If you have an intel processor (Core Solo, Core 2 Duo, etc) currently running Tiger, then you will be limited to Lion, at the most. Upgrade Snow Leopard to its latest version. If you have a G4 processor, then you will be limited to 10.5.8 (Leopard) If you have a mini that is running 10.4.11, then I would expect that you cannot upgrade to the current Mountain Lion.
Which mini do you have? - look under your Apple menu for the processor that you have.Īlso, the amount of memory that you have installed will help, too.
